Mr Stokes North Coast 110

Running in the North Coast 110 Mile Race was an experience I’ll never forget. The weather was absolutely perfect; dry and cool, ideal for such a long run. The route took us along the stunning South West Coast Path and Tarka Trail, and the scenery was nothing short of breathtaking. Every turn revealed a new, beautiful vista that kept me motivated and inspired.

The camaraderie amongst the runners was incredible. Seeing others push themselves to their limits inspired me to do better than I ever thought I could. Their determination and encouragement were contagious, and it really helped me keep going, especially during the tougher parts of the race.

Months of training led up to this moment, and I could feel it paying off with every step. I was thrilled to finish 9th out of 44 participants. It was beyond my expectations and a testament to all the hard work I had put in. My training truly paid off, and it felt amazing to see the results.

The most challenging part of the race was definitely navigating through the night. At one point, I made a small navigational error that could have thrown me off course. It was disorienting and a bit stressful, especially with the fatigue setting in. Thankfully, the volunteers were there to help me get back on track. Their support was crucial and really highlighted the importance of having a great team organising such a demanding event.

One of the most surprising aspects of the race was the sheer physical demand. I ended up burning around 14,000 calories, which is the equivalent of 29 Big Macs! It was a staggering realisation of just how much energy the race required.

Looking back, I’m filled with a sense of accomplishment and gratitude. This race was a true test of my limits, and I’m grateful for the support from fellow runners and volunteers. It was an unforgettable journey, one that taught me a lot about resilience, determination, and the power of community.
