Sixth Form Students Learn New Skills

Sixth Form students at South Dartmoor Community College and Atrium will be learning some unique new skills when they start their studies this year. A purpose built coffee bar has been set up in the college, where students can train to be qualified baristas - serving students and staff as part of their volunteering commitments.

Deputy Head Teacher, Emma Dixon, said: “When we welcomed new students at the start of term they had fun getting to know their tutors, meeting teachers and learning about the new developments in the sixth form building. They were excited to see the many opportunities available to them outside the academic curriculum - but the real buzz was around the new coffee bar!

“We have some spaces remaining in the sixth form and we would welcome all and any applications from students who wish to continue their studies in a successful, vibrant and supportive sixth - it’s not too late to apply!”

The college has retained its place in the top 10% of sixth forms in the country for another year,  after a set of strong A Level results. At least 50% of those applying to higher education progressed to a Russell Group university, with more than 75% of students securing their first choice place at the top universities.

South Dartmoor is holding an open evening and morning for students and their parents/carers looking change colleges this term or to apply in 2022. These will be on 23rd September and 13th October 2021. For more information please email enquiries@southdartmoor.devon.sch.uk or see the website: www.southdartmoor.devon.sch.uk
